Tropical Americas
blue moon fund supports three broad efforts in the Tropical Americas. In the eastern Andes-western Amazon we work to protect remaining intact lowland and montane forests that will serve as critical refugia for plants and animals under predicted climate change scenarios. In the eastern Amazon we work to reverse trends towards large-scale ranching and agriculture that are destroying one of the globe’s greatest carbon sinks – the Amazon rainforest. Additionally, in southern Mesoamerica we work to protect exceptional biodiversity through innovative conservation strategies.
