Chesapeake-Appalachia

The Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary in the US and a cultural icon. Headwater streams in the mountains of central Appalachia feed the Chesapeake. The highly productive Chesapeake and biologically diverse Appalachians provide critical ecosystem services such as clean water and food, fiber and fuel. Yet, both eco-regions are being severely degraded due to industrial activities. blue moon, with headquarters in the heart of the Bay watershed, is investing in programs that demonstrate novel ways to reduce environmental degradation and dependence on unsustainable resource extraction while creating economic opportunities for local communities.
