Investment

blue moon fund makes investments that promote the development of environmentally responsible, socially equitable, and fiscally sound small and medium scale ventures in support of the fund’s philosophy.

blue moon makes both mission-related (market or above) and program-related (below-market) investments, and maximizes its resources by leveraging private capital.  It takes risks, makes early investments, and fills sectoral gaps as needed.  Instruments include loans, equity investments, and guarantees.

blue moon investments help build the technical and business capacity of the organizations they support, and promote social equity in the regions where they take place.  These investments are guided by principles of environmental sustainability and opportunities in the emerging carbon market.  Anticipated outcomes are an increase in income streams for target enterprises and the ultimate abatement of global warming.
